Honoring a Great Man...

“This is my prayer for all of us—'Lord, increase our faith.' Increase our faith to bridge the chasms of uncertainty and doubt. . . . Grant us faith to look beyond the problems of the moment to the miracles of the future. . . . Give us faith to do what is right and let the consequence follow.”

-President Gordon B. Hinckley

( “Lord, Increase Our Faith,” Ensign, Nov. 1987, 52–53.)

President Hinckley has past away at age 97. I can't believe it! He was an amazing man. I feel blessed to have lived during a time when this man led as prophet, seer, and revelator for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His optimism and hope was such that it motivated and inspired me to want to do better. He will truly be missed.

President Hinckley's daughter once came and spoke to our stake. She said that President lifted weights and walked on the treadmill everyday (he was in his 90s). Then she shared this conversation with him, "Dad, why don't you just give up?" and he just looked at her and said "Like that's an option."

I love that story. He continued to provide service for members of this faith, four years after the passing of his lovely wife. What a dedicated man. What faith. What an example. Thank you for sharing that. Your life has meant something to mine.
